Phone Consultation

My work with you begins the moment you reach out. Whether you contact me through Psychology Today or by email, we’ll start with a free 15-minute consultation call to talk about what you’re looking for and to see if we may be a good fit.
Some clients come to therapy with prior experience, while others are brand new. During our call, I’ll share more about who I am, how I work, and review my credentials so you can decide whether I’m the right therapist for you. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Associate in the State of Texas, which means I am in the early years of licensure. All counselors begin their careers under supervision to ensure high-quality, ethical care.
As part of this process, I meet weekly with my supervisor to review cases. No identifying client information is ever shared. Supervision helps ensure that the theories and techniques I use are appropriate and supportive of your growth. Another way my credentials may affect you is that many insurance companies do not independently panel LPC Associates. For this reason, my practice is private pay. My rate is $100 per session, and I offer sliding-scale options for those who qualify.
The main goal of our consultation is to determine whether we would work well together. Some therapists refer to this as a “vibe check.” The therapeutic relationship is much like any other relationship; some personalities and styles align better than others. I’ll explain my approach to counseling and make sure it aligns with what you’re looking for. I also want to learn what you value in a therapist and what helps you feel safe and comfortable. Building a strong, trusting working relationship is my top priority.
If after our conversation you decide to speak with other therapists, that’s absolutely okay. You’re welcome to take your time and reach back out if and when you’re ready to schedule. Whether you choose to work with another provider or me, I wish you the very best on your journey.
If you decide to move forward with me, we’ll review schedules and find a time that works. I currently work full-time at a nonprofit organization and offer both daytime and evening appointments. I’m fortunate to have the flexibility to accommodate my private practice clients.
Once we schedule your first session, I’ll send you some initial paperwork to complete, including the informed consent, an invitation to the client portal, and a few assessments to help me understand where you’re starting. I look forward to beginning this work together.
